Starlings are originally from Sheffield (now they’re in London, hence SOIWT’s attention) but god you wouldn’t know it. They sound more San Antonio than City of Steel; Balearic keyboards dripping with synths, fresh-faced vocals and an earnest, radio-friendly and distinctly ungrizzled and ungnarly sound. Because everything from the north normally sounds grizzled and gnarly - that’s basically what I’m saying here. SOIWT goes racist. Nice.
