My day-job’s been sapping my time recently, and now I’ve got no hours and no energy left for Monday Music. So please forgive today’s brief descriptions:
College – A Real Hero (Feat. Electric Youth)
I wasn’t so fond of the film ‘Drive’ as everyone else seems to be; but it did have some sweet roadside music going on, including this snoozy number.

Russian Red – Loving Strangers (mp3)
The beauty and stillness-in-time of a brief encounter…

Caged Animals – Teflon Heart (mp3)
Alt. That’s how I’d describe this. It should be a by-the-numbers rock/love song, and yet somehow the odd-sounding beats, the title’s strange metaphor, the singer’s unexpectedly earnest voice… it’s all not as it normally is. It’s all alt.

Love Inks – Blackeye (mp3)
I only just featured Love Inks, but this song’s so dang irresistible they had to appear again. It reminds me of Go Outside by Cults: summery vibe, super-catchy, most simplistic subject matter, female vocals, pop perfection.
Swimming – Neutron Wireless Crystal
The frenetic new single from Nottingham band Swmming (out in October), this briefly reminds me of Stereo MCs’ Get Myself Connected – then gets a lot better.
Used to listen to Russian Red really often. Thanks for bringing me back to her lovely smoky voice.
