Living in London can make you feel volcanic: the anger, the stress, the fury, oh they can bubble up inside you until one day you really, really, really have to be super-unpleasant to, or ideally thump, some silly sod. A similar vitriol – a bitter, wiry vitriol – seems to me to lie behind the stripped-down garage rock of new London quartet New Manhattan. Theirs is like music pared down to the nerve, as intense and exposed as it gets. And yet you know what? All four of them are 16 years old. That’s enough to make me angry…
