
As much as the expression’s strange, it’s easy to see why South London duo Gentle Friendly‘s sound is described as “junked up”. Their songs can sound at time like a hastily-glued-together set of sounds and vocals spat out at random by a sample machine: jarring and jagged. But gradually these noises become easier to digest, as if one as has attuned to the frequency, or learned the language.
